Where to buy Organic Cotton Bedlinen in Europe

Sustainable Ethical Bedlinen

Seeing as we spend almost 1/3 of the day in our beds it makes sense to have them as healthy as possible and one way to do that is to buy organic cotton sheets. There is a huge number of retailers of such bedlinen, but with a bias towards English language, big-brand websites search engines don’t make finding them easy. Unless you know where to look, that is! To save you hours of searching here is my comprehensive list of where to source organic cotton sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers in Europe.

Nothing mentioned in this article has been sponsored. It’s all just my own personal opinion. If you like your sources to remain independent then please;

As always my ‘where to buy posts’ come with a health warning. It takes 9,750 litres of water to make one cotton bed sheet. That’s a lot of drinking water, enough for one person for almost 9 years. So before you click buy ask yourself ‘do I really need new bed linen?’

If you do here’s a list of sustainable ethical bedlinen suppliers to choose from!

If you’d prefer not to shop online, I know that Lidl stock organic duvet sets from time to time. I don’t know how durable they are, which is important because anything that isn’t long wearing is unsustainable regardless of what it’s made of.

The following are a few companies that don’t do organic cotton but do printed Fairtrade cotton bed linen

  • TraidCraft (UK – fairtrade hand printed cotton duvet covers)
  • Chandni Chowk (UK – fairtrade handprinted cotton duvets)
  • Dojo Eco (UK – Fairtrade cotton bedlinen)

Also Aerende in the UK sell washed linen duvet sets from flax grown without chemicals in Lithuania.

And if you’re based in America or Australia Eco Warrior Princess lists 9 organic bedding brands

I’ll be back again next week peeps. In the meantime find me on Facebook or Instagram

  1. Another stockist is Arnotts who have organic cotton bedsheets (in store and online). From their website they currently stock organic cotton bed linen from Pottery Barn Kids, John Lewis, Wallis Young and Sheridan.

    1. Hey Rachel. I’m losing the will to live with the search engine function on Arnotts. I was hoping to get one link for all organic cotton bedlinen on their website but not joy. Did you find you had to hunt around the various brands to find all the options? Elaine

      1. Hi Elaine
        I agree the search function is not working properly even though they have done some work towards categorising some of their products as ‘sustainable’. Instead I think the best way is to go into the department you are looking at and use the filter. For example Home>Bedroom>Duvet Sets>Material. Use the ‘Material’ filter to narrow is down to just cotton. From there you can see all cotton duvet sets – both cotton and organic cotton. Hope I’ve explained that well.
