The Cutest Paperlamps

Penguin Paper Lamps

I kinda have a thing for paper craft. I love how you can create something stunning, and often functional, from a renewal material and for relatively little. I was lusting after one of these amazing paper bird lamps by two architects based in Portugal and treated myself to one of their rabbit ones in the end.

Owl paper lamps

Inspired by the origami art of folding paper figures, these paperlamps from Owl Paper Lamps consist of a DIY kit for you to assemble the designs. Each kit includes a full cut out paper model, a base with an E14 light bulb socket, a switch and a europlug CEE 7. Also included is an assembly guide and an extra practice model for the advanced kits. They say the lights take a good few hours to assemble so plan for that and give yourself breaks as you go along!

The light bulb is not include in the kit – for obvious reasons! Only use LED light bulbs and equivalent energy saving light bulbs that do not generate heat are suitable for these lamps. The bulb should have maximum 4,5cm diameter and 11cm height, except for the Barn Owl Paperlamp which is smaller and needs a LED lamp with maximum 8cm height. They recommend about 200 to 400lm (lumen) intensity and making sure that the light bulb should not be in direct contact with the paper model.
